Strangers on a Train..well i think that it has stood up to the test of time...still a gripping film, stiff, formal, no special effects but totally cool, the suspense, mystery and atmosphere is created completely by the actors, untainted by modern and slick computer generated special effects and additions. This is a great film typical of the era and of Alfred Hitchcock, suspenseful, fast paced, twisted but obvious, a delight to watch. Cliched, but a great idea. There are two main characters, Bruno, who is completely mad and Guy who is totally straight and sane! They meet on a train where after the alcohol and dinner Bruno suggests that they exchange murders...Bruno will murder Guys cheating wife and Guy will murder Bruno's father, who, incidenatally quite rightly thinks that his son needs incarcerating. Guy never agrees to this arrangement but Bruno dosent 'get' this and goes on to murder the girlfriend and then expects Guy to reciprocate........the muderous action starts at the fairground, Bruno stalks Miriam the wife of Guy and eventually muders her on the boating island of the fair, the whole story then revolves around Bruno trying to get Guy to do his bit and finish off the Father.....the fairground and freaky carousel horses feature effectively in this film and gave me my idea for 'location' shoots...........
